Ms. Irene Jagla graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor's in english and a Type 09 Secondary Teaching Certification. While at NIU, she was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society and earned the Robert T. Self Scholarship for studying abroad in the media and culture in Ireland Program. Irene received a full scholarship for studying english at Georgetown University, where she graduated in May 2010. As a teaching assistant in Georgetown's community scholars program, she worked with a diverse group of first-year students to improve their academic writing and literary analysis skills. She also taught middle school english in the Meyers Institute for College Preparation and ESL in Georgetown's Summer Discovery Program. Most recently, Irene has worked as a grant writer at Pioneer Center for Human Services, and as a writing and ACT tutor at Huntington Learning Center. Inspired by Indian street theater, Ms. Jagla is interested in incorporating theatrical exercises and improvisation into the english language classroom as a way to engage kinesthetic learning. |
